'Tis the Season

North Dakota is known for hard winters.  We were supposed to have moved by now.  Yet here we are, snuggling in for our fourth winter.  Fortunately, we received our first snow just last night, as opposed to the normal October snow.  A soft blanket of 2 inches or so is just enough to get me in the Christmas mood.  In years past I've been less than enthused by Christmas as it became a reminder of the two and a half months of winter behind me, and the three more months of winter ahead.  But this year is different.  I'm excited for Christmas.  So excited, in fact, that we decorated the house already AND we got a REAL tree this year.  The best part of decorating?  The twinkling lights!  There's nothing like riding around the neighborhood admiring the bright lights against the black sky.  And there's NOTHING like curling up on the couch to watch a movie by the light of the Christmas tree.  So cozy!
