Yesterday we ate ourselves into a turkey coma. All of us.
Okay, kitty didn't actually sit at the table with us, but she would have if I let her. How can you blame her when this is what you have to look forward to?
Our 12 pound turkey was a little much for the two of us, but we have leftovers galore to enjoy. I won't have to cook again for a week. Can I get an amen? We shared a small plate of turkey with the furry ones too. They loved it!
We had originally planned to invite some Air Force friends over, but in the end a lot of people left town and we decided to enjoy the day by ourselves. It was just what the doctor ordered. A day of cooking together in our pajamas. So fun and so relaxing! I love that we still have so much fun together after so many years.
However, the absence of family and friends gave me the opportunity to reflect on how thankful I am to have them, even if we can't always spend the holidays together. That is one of the Air Force sacrifices we make. Then again, it certainly makes us appreciate the time we do spend together, and I'm thankful for that appreciation too. The Air Force life has provided us many lessons in looking on the bright side of things...thankfully. Hoping you enjoyed your Turkey Day and found much to be thankful for.
