Letting Go

Hopefully you didn't look at today's title and bail on me without reading.  Not to worry.  I'm not getting poetic or reflective on you today.  I'm talking about letting go of these lovely darlings. (Please disregard my old, beat up dancer's toes.  Too many years in toe shoes.)

Our love affair has lasted for two summers.  I wear these daily!  They go. with. everything.  Everything! They were the perfect bargain too!  I love Targe`.

But alas, their time has come...

See how the bronze finish has almost completely worn off the strap?  Poor baby looks like a descaled fish.  The other areas of wear and tear?

My old, beat up dancer's toes have permanently indented the insoles.  Again, descaled fish.  I'm sorry my loves!  Now, let's flip them over for a look at the real damage.

Gasp!  I know!  Can you see it all?  Four, count 'em, four layers of the sole walked through.  If I didn't know I wore them every day I'd say my big toe weighed a whole ton!  I took them to a shoe repair shop to see if they could put on some new soles.  They could.  For forty dollars.  I paid twenty for them.  I was seriously considering getting new soles put on.  Yep.  Pathetic.

So I decided to think about it and take a spin around the mall.  I've been looking for a replacement all summer and haven't found one.  I like that they're flats.  I like that they're shiny and have pizazz.  I love that they go with everything.  How would I ever find a replacement?

Ta-daaaaa!  I love them!  They're flats.  Yes, they're even shinier and pizazzier, err, whatever.  But they'll go with everything.  And I'm not afraid to shine!  And?  They were on sale for forty dollars.  No new soles needed!

Pretty little ankle strap.  Looks familiar.  But not descaled.  Score.

Dillard's.  Gianni Bini.  He's the man.  Amen.

Letting go is easier when you have something to look forward to. :)
