Best Friends

I've made it seem like the pool was the best part of house sitting.  However, after a visit back to our friend's house last night for dinner I realized there was something WAY better that came from it.  A friendship that will never be broken.  A friendship grounded in common interests, acceptance, and trust.  A friendship that thrives on a genuine, unconditional love for the other.

They were so happy to see each other again!  They fell right into their routine of chasing one another around the coffee table, competing for table scraps, and barking at potential intruders on the sidewalk.  They had so much fun it often resulted in this:

Don't worry.  They were supervised.  No hanky panky going on here.  Pure, unbridled exhaustion is all. After rising from their naps it typically started all over again.  How would it start?

Squirrel patrol.  I wish I would have gotten video of these two when they finally spotted a squirrel.  Radar would hear it (hence, his name), take off toward the tree, and Alley would follow blindly, barking all the way because Radar was barking and she'd hate to look like she wasn't on top of things.  She usually figured it out by the time they got to the tree and would jump with all her might to get close to the taunting varmint.  Poor thing doesn't realize she'll never be able to jump into the tree.  I love her for trying!

They truly are partners in crime.  I knew Alley would miss Radar, but I had no idea it would be this bad.

Oh, how she mopes!  Perhaps they're more than friends.  Radar and Alley sittin' in a tree, errrr, barking up a tree....

  1. Oh my. I miss you. When I read your blog I can just hear you talking and see your facial expressions. I miss laughing and talking with you. They say that no one is indispensable. That is a false statement. No one can replace you in our lives. I'm sure some grammar expert would say that indispensable and irreplaceable are not the same thing! But the sentiment is the same. You are missed very much.
