Rest for Weary Travelers

Our three day journey to Michigan ended at my mom and step dad's house.  I love this place.  It's quietly tucked away under a tunnel of trees on a road called Idle Ease.  How fitting.  Life in this house indeed feels idle and easy.  The panoramic view of the lake from the couch in the living room lends itself to quiet reflection and relaxation.  The gorgeous Michigan summer is fading, and with it comes cool temperatures and light breezes soft enough to rock you to sleep on the patio; the hum of motorboats in the distance encourages your slumber.

It's a place where neighbors are family and dogs roam free to chase each other up and down the beach, stopping only to catch their breath or grab a treat from those who offer.  A leisurely walk around the lake affords you the opportunity to meet countless snow birds soaking up the treasures of nature.  You may even catch a glimpse of the "Witch of Streeter Beach", otherwise known as Joy.  She's been on this lake for...ever.  She knows everyone and can tell you the latest happenings around the block.  Perhaps her constantly shaded eyes provide the mystery that keeps the witch legend alive for the youth of the area.

No doubt we've been soaking up the quiet life on the lake.  It's provided us great rest in the middle of our travels.  We're sure to have the energy for whatever comes our way as we continue to visit family before trekking to Dover.  Here's a taste of what we're enjoying now.
